A Designer Approach to a Century Old Wet Market

Organized by non-profit organization 2Gather and supported by the Urban Renewal Authority, Festive Graham has gathered six renowned local designers and their design concepts into the making of “Festive Graham”. Their creativity is applied into a number of consumer products now available for public through the promotional campaigns.

Eric CHAN 陳超宏 (Renowned Hong Kong graphic designer and corporate identity consultant, awardee of numerous local and international design awards)

MaJie Shopping Bag – Eric shared with us the historical days in Graham neighborhood, when wet markets were frequented by crowds of MaJie (amah) who were common domestic helpers for middle class of the time

 

(1) Gideon LAI 賴維鈞 (Professional member of the Hong Kong Society of Illustrators, Full member of the Hong Kong Designers Association)

Graham Market Apron - An exclusive edition for Graham Market with sketches of its distinctive market scenes

 

(2) Paul LAM 林席賢 (Founder of CO1 School of Visual Arts, awardee of Outstanding Achievements Award of Hong Kong Print Awards)

Graham Utensil Set - Kaleidoscopic tableware set revealing the enticing produce and features of Graham Market

 

(3) Prudence MAK 麥雅端 (Founder of Chocolate Rain, awardee of Ten Outstanding Designers Awards and Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection)

Graham Eco Food Bag – Creating with her signature characters, Prudence created a reusable food bag depicting kittens often seen at the market

 

(4) Gary TONG 唐承剛 (Experienced graphic and branding designer, awardee of Hong Kong Designers Association Global Design Awards)

Graham Furoshiki - Wrapping cloth with modern expressions of traditional wet market elements

 

(5) Clement YICK 易達華 (Professional in corporate and brand identity consultancy, recipient of DFA Design for Asia Awards Merit Award)

Elves Pin Set – A trio of food elves that stroll along the iconic slope of Graham Street

 

PROMOTION! Design premiums are now redeemable upon purchases at Graham Market:           

  • Redemption period: 19 Dec. 2020 – 2 Jan. 2021 (Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday)
  • Time: 10am – 5pm
  • Redemption location: Festive Graham Pop Up Store (Shop M02, G/F of Graham Market, Central)
  • How: Customer collects a stamp card when purchased at participating market operators. Obtain one stamp upon spending of $30 or more, with a total of 6 stamps to redeem one design premium at the Pop Up Store
  • Remarks: Stamps collected should include no less than 2 stamp types (e.g. vegetables and meat).
